Join us for this month's Morning INfluence, where we will shine a spotlight on two impactful nonprofit organizations making a difference in our community - Friends of the Cherokee County Public Libraries and History Cherokee.


Learn how Friends of the Cherokee County Public Libraries support literacy, education and community engagement through its advocacy and fundraising efforts for Cherokee Libraries.


You'll also hear from History Cherokee, the organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Cherokee County, through programs, exhibitions, and community outreach.


Come be inspired by the missions, stories, and opportunities to get involved with these organizations that help shape the cultural and educational fabric of our region.


Morning Influence is a networking event which includes breakfast and a brief presentation that focuses on updates given by Greater Woodstock on important issues or services offered that affect the community as a whole.

    Stefanie Joyner

    Executive Director of History Cherokee

    Website

    Stefanie Joyner earned both her BA and MS degrees from the University of Florida. Specializing in Architectural Studies and Historic Preservation, Joyner was hired to lead the Cherokee County Historical Society in 2005. Under her direction as Executive Director, the Historical Society has cataloged and preserved over 120,000 items, prepared National Historic District nominations for the cities of Canton and Ball Ground, produced eleven local history publications, launched Cherokee County’s Endangered Sites List, rebranded the organization as History Cherokee and opened the new Cherokee County History Center in 2022. This $4.7M dollar facility in downtown Canton is becoming a cultural and educational asset for the region and houses a history museum, research library and classroom.

    Jon Sylvester

    Grant Writer at Friends of the Cherokee County Public Libraries

    Jon Sylvester is a grant writer for the Friends of the Cherokee County Public Libraries, where he supports community engagement and literacy initiatives. A Woodstock native, John has returned to his hometown after spending over a decade exploring life, learning, and service in diverse communities. He earned his undergraduate degree from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, followed by a Master of Divinity in Johnson City, Tennessee. He then spent five years in Puebla, Mexico, working with college students in leadership and mentoring roles.

    Deeply committed to community building, John can often be found at his favorite yoga studio, volunteering at the library, or attending cultural events at the local art center. His passion for connection and service continues to shape his work and life in Cherokee County.
